Kimbal Musk, the younger brother of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, was recently exposed as being involved in the Epstein case and had been dating a woman introduced by the latter for half a year. The U.S. Department of Justice released the latest batch of Epstein documents on January 30, and Kimbal’s name appeared 140 times in the documents. At present, Kimbal has resigned from the board of directors of "Burning Man" due to his involvement in the Epstein case.

According to emails recently released by the U.S. Department of Justice, Epstein arranged for a woman in his network to maintain an intimate relationship with Kimbal Musk. Kimbal Musk dated the woman for about six months between 2012 and 2013, and he said the two were "dating" at the time.
Before Kimbal Musk and the woman first met, Epstein and his longtime associate Boris Nikolic worked to arrange for them to meet and take her to a birthday party hosted by Kimbal. "Please make arrangements for (the woman)," Nikolic told Epstein in an email.
"Jeffrey and Boris, thank you so much for introducing me to this woman," Kimbal emailed Epstein and Nikolic after having lunch at Epstein's Manhattan apartment in October 2012. "I believe you both were involved. :)"
On multiple occasions during Kimbal's relationship with the woman, she forwarded private messages Kimbal sent her to Epstein and sought guidance from Epstein about the relationship. The emails contain no indication that Kimbal was aware of her secret communications with Epstein.
The woman has reportedly said through her lawyer in recent years that she was framed, coerced and abused by Epstein while she was in his inner circle. The woman has never spoken publicly about her experience or her relationship with Kimbal Musk.
On Monday local time, after the media requested comment from Kimbal Musk, he issued a statement on the X platform talking about his relationship with Epstein and the woman. "This post is related to the Epstein dossier and explains why my name appears in it. In 2012, I began a relationship with a 30-year-old woman. We met through friends and Epstein did not introduce us. The only time I saw the monster was in his New York office during the day. I never saw him again or visited his island," Kimbal wrote.
"The reason he receives so many emails from me is because he is subscribed to the newsletter I send to thousands of people every few weeks. I have deep sympathy for Jeffrey Epstein's many victims, as I do for everyone who has experienced any form of sexual abuse or harassment," Kimbal wrote.
Kimbal Musk has so far not been accused of any wrongdoing in his relationship with Epstein.
The emails, part of 3 million Epstein-related documents released last month by the U.S. Department of Justice, reveal a far more cordial and complex relationship between Kimbal Musk and Epstein than the public knew, a relationship that went well beyond regular exchanges of text messages. The revelations of the emails coincide with a period when Epstein appeared to be trying to woo Kimbal and his brother, Elon Musk, by inviting them to his private island and leveraging personal connections.
In 2020, it was reported that Epstein arranged for Kimbal Musk to meet a woman. The report said Epstein had previously dated the woman and that she lived in an apartment owned by Epstein's brothers. The report said Kimbal Musk's relationship with the woman appeared to be genuine, but sources said Epstein viewed it as a means to establish ties with the Musk family.
The emails cover the period after Kimbal Musk divorced his first wife, which he mentioned in a 2013 email to Nikolic, saying he was "now divorced! and can live freely."
From late 2012 to early 2013, Kimbal Musk exchanged a large number of emails with Epstein and Nikolic, and invited Epstein to his birthday party and SpaceX launch event. Kimbal even joked that the three of them would prepare Halloween costumes together.
It's unclear how Kimbal Musk met Epstein, but in September 2012, he extended an invitation to the disgraced financier to attend his birthday party at the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan. Kimbal was celebrating his 40th birthday in New York and had previously discussed party plans with Epstein's long-time associate and technology investor Boris Nikolic.
"Just spoke to Kimbal. His birthday is actually Thursday night (although the birthday party is on Saturday). Kimbal, Elon and a few of their closest friends will be hanging out that night," Nikolic emailed Epstein on September 19, the day before Kimbal's birthday. "I told him you were coming too. I also told him you were coming with (the woman) and that he might want to get rid of his ex/or current one. He said yes and was looking forward to it."
"So be prepared for (the lady), she might like Elon too," Nikolic added.
On the Friday after Kimbal Musk's birthday, he emailed Nikolic to tell him he had had a great night and asked him to inform Epstein and his friends that they were invited to a formal birthday party at the Four Seasons Hotel the next night. Kimbal also told Nikolic to send his executive assistant a list of guests that Epstein and himself would bring to the party.
Nikolic almost immediately forwarded Kimbal's email to Epstein, who responded asking if he and Nikolic could arrange for the Musk brothers to have lunch at his home. Later that day, Nikolic contacted Epstein again to remind him to provide a guest list for Musk’s party.
"Please reply who you went to the party with. Kimbal liked (the woman)," Nikolic said.
A week later, an email sent by Kimbal Musk to Epstein showed that Epstein did not attend the party, but Musk later took the initiative to arrange a meeting between the two.
"Hey Jeffrey. I'm sorry you missed the party. It was great. I'm so sorry I couldn't have lunch on Sunday. I had to fly back and recuperate. I'll be in town next Friday (October 5). If you are there, I'd love to meet up with you," Kimbal wrote in the email.
Over the next two weeks, Epstein and Kimbal's aides hammered out the details of the lunch and arranged for a driver to take him to New York's LaGuardia Airport. An email sent to Epstein by his assistant stated that Kimbal had confirmed that he would visit at 11:30 a.m. on October 7.
After that lunch, Musk, Nikolic and Epstein exchanged a series of emails. Musk proposed meeting them again when he returned to New York around Halloween later that month, joking with Nikolic that the three of them could dress up as the Holy Spirit, the Virgin Mary, and the Baby Jesus. Musk also thanked Epstein and Nikolic for arranging a meeting with the woman, and Nikolic later told Musk in an email to "treat" the woman well because she was one of Epstein's "girls."
Over the next few weeks, Musk and the woman appeared to start spending more time together. On October 22, he sent the woman a loving email, saying that there was an arrangement for them to meet, and invited her to fly to London with him next month to attend the birthday party of Dalullah Riley (then Elon Musk’s wife).
The woman forwarded Kimbal's invitation email to Epstein, adding: "Anyone who thought of introducing us is a genius!" Epstein responded by email, suggesting things she could do with Kimbal.
"Spend Thanksgiving together. Go to a romantic place like Morocco...etc.," Epstein suggested in the email that she could also go to his private island beforehand. He also sent a colleague the schedule of the woman and Kimbalk from October to January, which included a dozen days the two spent together.
While Epstein was advising the woman about Kimbal Musk, he was also exchanging messages with Elon Musk. In a series of emails in November of that year, Epstein asked the tech mogul how many people he would take on a ride on Epstein's helicopter to his private island.
"How many people are you going to take by helicopter to the island?" Epstein asked on November 24.
"Probably just me and Dalulla. What day/night do you have the craziest party on your island?" Elon Musk replied a day later. It appears that the trip never took place due to logistical issues. Elon Musk claimed last month that his communications with Epstein, including other email exchanges and social invitations, had been "misinterpreted." Although he has repeatedly mentioned the documents in 2025, he called their release a "red herring."
On January 24, 2013, Epstein also invited Kimbal Musk to his private island. The latter said "that would be nice" but declined because he was "still dealing with everything in my life that is like a nuclear explosion." Kimbal thanked Epstein for the invitation and told him to "say hi to (the woman)."
Kimbal Musk's relationship with the woman seemed to last until 2013, when he emailed her to slow down and return to a more relaxed relationship. Kimbal began the email by apologizing to the woman, saying he was "in a bad mood last night" and said he wished he had more time to spend with her, but "at the end of every day I just want to fall asleep."
"We both know how much we like each other. But I really can't commit to a formal relationship right now. Would you like to go back to dating? We can try to see each other on the weekends and do fun things together," Kimbal wrote in the April 26 email.
The woman forwarded the email to Epstein, again seeking advice.
"Any thoughts? I feel like I will never be his priority because he has no ability to let go of the past or emotionally cope with the future... It's my grandfather's funeral today and I have my whole family here and he sent me this..." the woman wrote.
The woman also forwarded Musk's emails to another Epstein associate, Steve Hansen. Hansen responded with a blistering email sent to both Epstein and the woman, scolding her for her handling of the relationship and instructing her on what to do next.
"You're giving away too much too soon. Like I said, you should be home in a week or two at the most. Don't answer his calls or respond to his emails for ten days. Leave now. We'll have a plan for you in a week. You won't be able to listen now anyway - if you leave - And you have to go. Get on the plane tonight. This is a game you're not playing. And turn your phone off," wrote Jeff Hansen in the email.
The next day, the woman sent Epstein another email containing text messages she claimed were from Kimbal. The content of the text message appeared to be that Kimbal apologized to her for the incident and offered to arrange for a driver to pick her up at the Los Angeles Airport. But the latest documents from the U.S. Department of Justice did not find any response from Epstein to the woman.
Musk continued to invite Epstein to private events as early as 2014, although the documents show there was no record of any intimate relationship between Musk and the woman after that. Later in 2013, Epstein also exchanged emails with Elon Musk about plans to visit his private island, but Epstein ultimately decided to stay in New York and canceled the trip.
Kimbal Musk’s ties to the woman in Epstein’s network were not completely severed. A few years later, in 2015, Kimbal personally invited the woman to a charity event hosted by his food education nonprofit and expressed his hope that she would attend.
"What do you think about Kimbal's invitation to the following event?" the woman asked Epstein.
"Go ahead," Epstein replied.
Kimbal Musk once described the months after his divorce as a sad and chaotic period in his life, during which he dated multiple women and became an "unhealthy version of himself."
"After we separated, I started drinking heavily and acting irresponsibly," Kimbal said on a podcast last year. "Like hanging out with girls and going to parties. I've always loved a good party, don't get me wrong, but it was unhealthy."
Kimbal claimed that during that time, he made rules for himself, such as dating three women at the same time, to avoid becoming too attached to any one person. He also learned to "honestly tell the girls I date that I'm not ready."
