On March 24, according to Bloomberg,Meta poached the founder and team behind AI startup Dreamer.The company was founded earlier this year to help users create their own AI agents.

According to an internal notice issued by Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang on Monday morning, the Dreamer team will join the Meta Super Intelligence Laboratory led by Wang, including Dreamer co-founder Hugo Barra, who has worked at Meta. The new employees will be responsible for the research and development of Meta AI agents and related projects.
Although the terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, according to people familiar with the matter,Investors in Dreamer will receive returns greater than their investment. The person added that Dreamer still retains its status as an independent legal entity, and the agreement also includes a non-exclusive license that allows Meta to use Dreamer-related technology.
Dreamer co-founder David Singleton confirmed the deal on LinkedIn and thanked Wang Tao, who is also a Dreamer investor. Singleton also added that he demonstrated the company's products to Mark Zuckerberg earlier this year. “We quickly realized that we had the same vision for the future: empowering billions of people to create software that makes their lives better,” Singleton wrote.
Dreamer was founded by several tech industry veterans, including co-founder Singleton, who was previously chief technology officer of fintech company Stripe and vice president of engineering for Google's Android products. Barra also served as vice president of product management for Google Android and served as global vice president at Xiaomi before joining Meta to lead the company's virtual reality business unit, but left in 2021.
