Google is updating its AI search capabilities to make it easier for users to obtain information from sources they trust. One of the most eye-catching changes is to add "first-hand view previews" from social media, Reddit and other online forums to AI search results, directly linking user search requests to real discussions around similar topics on the Internet.

Google said that this move is an adjustment to the trend of users "increasingly tending to seek advice from others" when retrieving information online. This experience is particularly familiar to those who are accustomed to adding "Reddit" after search keywords to prioritize real user experience rather than SEO-optimized web pages. It also confirms to some extent Reddit CEO Steve Hoffman's previous statement - "Nearly everyone who uses Google today will eventually click on Reddit."

By integrating such functions into AI search tools, Google hopes that users will no longer have to manually filter forum content in traditional web results, but will directly see relevant discussion entries in AI-generated answers. Google also emphasized that it will add more contextual information next to these newly added AI answer links, such as the name of the content creator, account ID or community name, to help users quickly identify the source of these conversations. These first-hand experiences from social platforms and forums will be presented in the form of "expert advice" in AI search results, and further guide users to jump to specific vertical forums or subreddits (such as specific subreddits) to browse the complete discussion in depth.

For example, Google said that if a user is searching for "how to take good photos of the aurora", the AI search results may directly display a discussion fragment in a photography forum about detailed settings such as exposure time, with clickable links and clear community names, allowing users to jump to the original post with one click to browse more complete suggestions. In addition, this update will also display other information sources related to related topics next to the AI search results, encouraging users to conduct extended reading and in-depth exploration around the same topic, rather than being limited to a single answer given by AI.

In this round of adjustments, Google will also equip AI-generated answers with more links to “useful websites.” These links will appear directly adjacent to the answer text, making it easier for users to jump from the AI summary to specific sources for verification or to obtain more detailed background materials. By increasing content citations on social platforms such as Reddit, and enhancing the visibility of sources and links at the interface level, Google hopes that the AI search model will better accommodate users' needs for real experience, clear sources, and in-depth reading paths while retaining the ability to generalize.
