According to Business Insider,OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on Monday that the fiercest competition in the AI industry is not about who can be the first to land on Wall Street.AI startup Anthropic announced on Monday that it had confidentially filed for an IPO. In an interview hours later, Altman downplayed the idea that they were racing to get the product first.

“I think we’re in a race to launch the best technology and build the best business, but going public is just a financing event,I don't think we're focusing on the specific timing of it." Altman said on CNBC's "Power Lunch" program on Monday.
After secretly submitting an IPO application, it usually takes about 6 to 9 months for a company to officially enter the capital market. Anthropic's filing to go public marks a major milestone in one of the most high-profile IPO waves in technology history.Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, was recently valued at nearly $1 trillion and has emerged as OpenAI's most formidable competitor, thanks in large part to the popularity of its programming product, Claude Code.
At the same time, OpenAI is also advancing its listing plan. Business Insider previously reported that the developer of ChatGPT has been preparing for an IPO and plans to officially go public later this year.
Altman also pushed back against the idea that a single company will eventually dominate the AI field. When asked whether there will be a winner-take-all situation in the AI field, Altman told reporters: "I am very sure that will not happen, because AI will become a vital infrastructure in many fields, and the world has every reason to demand the establishment of a robust system composed of multiple suppliers. I think this is a very good thing."
In addition to Anthropic and OpenAI, Elon Musk’s SpaceX is also expected to IPO soon. These three major IPOs may reshape public markets and provide ordinary investors with the opportunity to invest directly in some of the most valuable private companies in the AI boom.
As of press time, Anthropic has not commented.
