According to statistics from foreign media Torrentfreak, the live-action series produced by HBO and adapted from Naughty Dog's famous game "The Last of Us" is the most pirated TV series in 2023, followed by Disney+'s "Star Wars" spin-off series "Star Wars: The Mandalorian." Coincidentally, both series starred Pedro Pascal.
Torrentfreak pointed out that "Game of Thrones" has been the "most pirated series" for many years, and with the end of the series, its dominance has been replaced by Disney+ series. After the end of "Game of Thrones", the most pirated series in 2020 and 2021 are "WandaVision" and "The Mandalorian" respectively. But the good times didn't last long. HBO's "Game of Thrones" prequel "House of the Dragon" snatched this title last year.
The most eye-catching thing about this list is that it all comes from video subscription services. With the current fragmentation of the streaming media landscape, it seems that many people prefer to watch pirated videos rather than buying another subscription service.
Interestingly, Netflix is absent from this list. Without speculating too much, it seems unlikely that Netflix users will abandon their subscriptions, given that it is the dominant streaming platform in much of the world.
