Anecdotal reports show that even Sony has not been immune to the impact of rising demand for AI-related components pushing up hardware costs. We've talked about this industry trend before, and now the concerns are becoming a reality. Although there is no official conclusion yet, the annual report released by the publisher Embrace Group has revealed a signal that the PS6 release will be delayed.

The report mentioned: "Some analysts believe that Sony is currently considering delaying the launch of the next-generation PlayStation console from 2027 to 2028, or even 2029."
Even if there is a lack of official corroboration, such rumors are not groundless. Even though the mass production of PS6 has not yet started and is approaching the preparation stage, Sony must have concerns: if the new cost is passed on to consumers, it will only further cause dissatisfaction among players - after all, players have already complained about the price increase of PlayStation series devices. There are currently many voices predicting that the PS6 price will be quite high, and Sony is obviously aware of this.
But for now, the performance of the PS5 and PS5 Pro in our hands is still strong. Even if the subsequent PS6 is officially released, these current-generation consoles will still be able to provide a high-quality gaming experience for a long time. I believe that many players will choose to continue to use the equipment at hand and wait and see this not very optimistic situation. What is somewhat comforting is that competing manufacturers are also facing the same problem, which means that the arrival of the next generation of gaming hardware may be later than everyone expects.
