"Minions and Monsters" is an American adventure comedy animated film directed by Pierre Coffin and produced by Illumination Entertainment. It will be released in mainland China on July 3, 2026. The story is set in Hollywood in the 1920s and is linked to the Universal Monsters universe. As a sequel to the "Minions" series, the film starts a new adventure around characters such as Kevin, Stewart, and Bob. It tells the story of the chaotic magical adventure of the Minions trying to make a monster movie but accidentally summoning real monsters.
The story continues the joyful tone of the previous game, showing the unique group ecology of the minions through dense visual jokes and exaggerated action design.

Now IGN has given it an 8-point praise, saying: Who would have thought of it? The seventh film in the "Despicable Me" series, and perhaps the best one ever - "Minions and Monsters" uses those banana-loving little guys to compose a paean to early Hollywood, to the power of film and narrative.
IGN (8/10):
When a franchise is as successful as Despicable Me/Minions, why not have some fun and push the boundaries? That seems to be the attitude Minions and Monsters takes, and the results are certainly worth it. Using the Minions to create an ode to early Hollywood that also serves as a love letter to cinema itself and the power of narrative is an unexpected but welcome turn. While the film retains the classic Minion gags to please loyal fans (especially kids), it also intersperses it with plenty of references and story elements that will have extra entertainment value for older viewers. And if even a small number of viewers, regardless of age, use this seventh installment in the Despicable Me franchise as an opportunity to get to know Buster Keaton or Orson Welles, that's a good thing.
