Samsung Display announced that it has begun full supply of a new generation of series notebook OLED panels, with a peak brightness of 1,600 nits., has also passed the new VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification, and has been supplied to major computer brands in batches.
This set of True Black 1400 is the current highest certification standard for OLED screens. Compared with the previous generation True Black 1000, the brightness threshold is increased by 40%. Certification requires that when 10% of the pixels of the screen are lit, the peak brightness reaches 1,400 nits, and the brightness of the black screen is controlled within 0.0005 nits. The bright parts are transparent and the dark field is pure and will not turn gray.
This Samsung panel has a native 1,600 nits, and its parameters far exceed certification requirements. It is currently the notebook OLED with the highest brightness.
Able to achieve higher brightness, the core is a double-layer series light-emitting structure, matched with new self-developed organic light-emitting materials. The two light-emitting layers work synchronously, and the brightness is higher under the same current.
When maintaining the same brightness, the light-emitting pressure of each layer is smaller. In daily use scenarios, the panel service life is more than twice that of traditional single-layer OLED, solving the pain point of premature aging of high-brightness screens.
