According to a report on the US Business Insider website on December 30, Chinese technology giant Huawei stated in its New Year's message that it expects sales revenue in 2023 to exceed 700 billion yuan ($98.5 billion). According to the report, this figure marks a 9% year-on-year increase in Huawei's sales and shows that U.S. sanctions and Apple's competition in China have not hindered Huawei's long-term development.

Hu Houkun, Huawei's rotating chairman, is optimistic that the company has overcome the difficulties.

Hu Houkun wrote: "After several years of hard work, we have withstood the severe test, and the company's operations have basically returned to normal." He said: "It is the common belief that allows us to break through the blockade and move forward side by side."

According to reports, in 2019, the Trump administration imposed sanctions that prohibited Huawei from using advanced Western chip manufacturing equipment unless it received official approval.

At that time, about one-third of Huawei's suppliers were from the United States, and Huawei relied on the United States to provide high-performance chips. But in 2023, Huawei released the Mate60Pro smartphone, proving that it is capable of developing its own cutting-edge chip technology.

According to the report, despite the success of the year, the company admitted that "challenges remain severe." Hu Houkun said in his New Year's message: "The uncertainty of geopolitics and economic cycles, as well as the continued impact of technical sanctions and trade barriers, are profoundly reshaping the structure of the global industrial chain and business rules."

Looking ahead, Huawei said it plans to expand investment in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and strengthen business operations.
