According to a post on the Korean social media site Naver, a user who often posts Apple rumors, Apple is preparing to preview a new version of Siri at WWDC. The new version of Siri will have generative artificial intelligence and a series of new features. According to developer sources who spoke to the operator of the Naver technology news aggregation account "yeux1122", Apple has recently made progress in integrating generative artificial intelligence into Siri using its Ajax-based model.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman first mentioned this in July. The new version of Siri apparently features natural conversation capabilities and enhanced user personalization.
The new feature is believed to work across devices, suggesting the new version of Siri will retain conversational information from one device to another. The new version of Siri is also said to offer new "Apple-specific creation services," which may be related to the previously reported rumored Siri-based shortcuts feature in iOS 18.
Apple is said to be developing links to various external services for the new version of Siri, most likely through APIs. Finally, the report states that some of Apple's new AI features may vary depending on subscription service status, but it's unclear what form this might take.
A recent prediction from Deepwater Asset Management also claimed that Apple will bring generative artificial intelligence to Siri this year. The Naver blog has a mixed record at predicting Apple's plans, but some of its predictions have proven to make sense. For example, in March 2022, before Apple released the third-generation iPhone SE, it accurately disclosed some details of the model. In October of the same year, it also accurately predicted that Apple would postpone the release of new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models to early 2023.
