Valve's handheld SteamDeck supports more than 13,000 games, so players no longer have to worry about game shortages! What’s even more surprising is that this number has exceeded that of Nintendo Switch, which has less than 11,000 game libraries.
According to SteamDB statistics, SteamDeck officially supports more than 13,000 games, including 4,355 SteamDeck "certified games" and 8,751 "playable games". In addition, there are 3720 games that are "not supported". Most of these "unsupported" games can be supported through protongl.
That number doesn't even include any exclusive games from the Epic Games Store, Blizzard Battle.net, or other unverified sources and platforms, so the actual number is likely higher.
Considering that SteamDeck will only be released in February 2022, and the Nintendo Switch was released in March 2017, surpassing the Switch in the number of games is even more impressive. Valve is very active in revisiting older PC games, giving them SteamDeck ratings, while ensuring that newly released games have ratings at launch.
After six years of brilliant success on the market, the Nintendo Switch is strongly rumored to be getting a new iteration this year. Despite the addition of older games via the Nintendo Switch Online service and a very active indie game market, the Switch seems to have stagnated when it comes to games, resulting in SteamDeck having perhaps the largest library of official games ever.
With the release of SteamDeck OLED, and the rumors of SteamDeck 2 still continuing, there is no reason to believe that Valve will be satisfied with the status quo of PC gaming handhelds, and the best may be yet to come.
