NVIDIA will launch three RTX40 series gaming graphics cards this month, offering higher performance at similar or better price points than existing graphics cards. The pricing of the RTX40 series graphics cards has always been the focus of players, especially the RTX4080. NVIDIA will replace this GPU with the RTX4080Super and reduce the price to $999 when it goes on sale on January 31.

A $200 price cut will put a lot of pressure on AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XT ($899) and XTX ($999) graphics cards. Before the RTX4080Super goes on sale, there is the RTX4070Super, which will be available on January 17, priced at $599; and the RTX4070TiSuper, which will be available on January 24, priced at $799, with some interesting changes. In addition, NVIDIA will also phase out the RTX 4070 Ti, but will still keep the RTX 4070 at the lower $549 price point.

RTX4080Super is equipped with NVIDIA's full-blooded AD103 chip, so its capabilities are not reduced like the previous RTX4080. It has more CUDA cores and faster memory (736GB/s bandwidth), comes with the same 16GB G6X, and consumes up to 320 watts of power.

NVIDIA positions RTX4080Super for existing RTX3080Ti or RTX2080Super users, not RTX40 series users. Performance improvements compared to the RTX 4080 should be between 1% and 5%, depending on the game, so essentially you're getting RTX 4080-level performance (or better) for $200 less.

RTX4070TiSUPER

The RTX4070TiSuper looks to be the most interesting card among the three RTX40 series super GPUs. NVIDIA increased the memory to 16GBG6X and upgraded to a 256-bit memory bus on the RTX4080/4090 graphics cards instead of the 192-bit bus on the original RTX4070Ti. Adding more CUDA cores will make it feel like a bigger upgrade than the RTX4080 Super Edition. Although the price is still $799, users will get more memory and performance. NVIDIA said that compared to the RTX4070Ti, the performance of the RTX4070TiSuper should be improved by about 10%.

In order to provide better performance, NVIDIA has not sacrificed more power consumption. The RTX 4070 Ti Super will offer the same power consumption of up to 285 watts as the original, but there will be no Founders Edition variant of this graphics card.

RTX4070SUPER

NVIDIA claims that the new RTX4070Super will be faster than the RTX3090 while consuming less power, up to 220 watts. That's only 20 watts more than the original RTX 4070, which offered similar performance to the RTX 3080 at 1440p. Although it still uses the same 192-bit memory bus and 12GBG6X memory, NVIDIA has increased the CUDA core count to improve performance.

The RTX 4070 Super will ship on January 17 and will cost the same $599 as the original, which could be a more tempting upgrade for existing RTX 3070 or 2070 owners. NVIDIA also claims that performance will increase by about 15% from the original RTX4070 to the RTX4070Super.

NVIDIA's RTX4080Super and RTX4070Super will both launch Founders Edition models. They look essentially the same as the originals, but NVIDIA opted for slightly darker alloy frames to make them more recognizable. If you are not interested in NVIDIA's own Founders Editions, third-party manufacturers such as ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, and PNY also have many choices.
