TwelveSouth today announced the launch of BookArcFlex, a new stand designed specifically for MacBooks that can be used in closed mode when a monitor is attached. BookArcFlex has a unique structure with two legs connected by a flexible inner piece. The laptop is placed on the flexible part in the middle, which pulls the legs together and uses the weight of the laptop to hold it upright.
TwelveSouth says the design of the BookArcFlex was inspired by the Noisette Creek Pedestrian Bridge in Charleston, South Carolina, which has two steel arches and is indeed similar in design to the BookArcFlex.
While the design works well, it's important to make sure your laptop is placed directly in the center of the stand. This isn't difficult to do, and positioning your laptop correctly will keep it safe. However, if it is not placed in a central position, the laptop may shift, but users will quickly notice the misalignment.
The BookArcFlex's construction allows it to be used with multiple laptop sizes without replacing the silicone adapter, and it's compatible with Apple's MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. The BookArcFlex's slim size ensures it doesn't take up too much space on your desk.
TwelveSouth's BookArcFlex starts at $50 and is available today from the TwelveSouth website.
