In September 2023, Microsoft released the new Surface Laptop Studio 2, Surface Laptop Go 3 and Surface Go 4 tablets. All of this news was mentioned at the end of Microsoft's big Copilot and Windows 23H2 press conference.
However, the company appears to be gearing up for a Surface-centric event that will be held in March. Microsoft leaker "WalkingCat" posted a teaser on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this week, simply writing: "SurfaceEvent=3/21?"
The media WindowsCentral confirmed that March 21 is indeed the day when Microsoft releases new Surface products. The website also claims that according to its sources, these products will be new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop devices, using the current design but equipped with Intel's 14th generation chips and features designed for enterprise and commercial users. They will reportedly include "an anti-reflective display, a new NFC reader and support for Windows Studio Effects." These products are rumored to ship in April.
Today's report also claims that Microsoft may hold another launch event in June. This time the previously rumored Surface Pro "10" and Surface Laptop "6" will be released. These two products will adopt new designs and be equipped with Intel's 14th generation CPU and Qualcomm's recently exposed Snapdragon X series chips.
Finally, Microsoft may launch a third batch of small Surface devices this fall. According to reports, these devices will include an upgraded Surface Laptop Go 4 and a Surface Go 4 aimed at consumers rather than business buyers.
Last fall, Panos Panay, the long-time leader of Microsoft's Surface products, left Microsoft for Amazon.
