[Omdia: Global true wireless headset shipments fell 0.7% year-on-year to 82.1 million units in the second quarter] September 22, Omdia’s latest data showed that global true wireless (TWS) headset shipments fell 0.7% year-on-year to 82.1 million units in the second quarter of 2026. This is the first year-on-year decline since the second quarter of 2023. Omdia predicts that open-back headphones (OWS) will remain one of the most potential growth segments in the TWS field in the next few years. Annual shipments of OWS are expected to increase from 43.9 million units in 2026 to 90.5 million units in 2030, accounting for nearly one-fifth of total TWS shipments.
