["World Energy Statistical Yearbook 2026": Solar energy contribution increased by 70%] On October 9, KPMG released the "World Energy Statistical Yearbook 2026". The "Yearbook" shows that the total global energy supply exceeded 600 exajoules for the first time in 2025, and renewable energy became an energy source for the first time in a non-economic recession period. The largest source of growth in total supply, solar power generation contributed 71% of the increase. The proportion of solar power generation in total power generation exceeded wind power for the first time and was almost the same as nuclear power. This marks a structural change: the energy system is shifting from clean energy to supplement fossil fuels to a pattern in which clean energy increasingly replaces fossil fuels. But at the same time, the absolute use of fossil fuels is still expanding and maintaining its dominant position, accounting for 86% of total energy supply; all energy consumption, including fossil fuels, has reached a record high.
