[GlobalFoundries receives support from the United States and Japan to expand U.S. production capacity. Morgan Stanley: Light capital expansion is expected to increase profits] On October 15th, Morgan Stanley released a research report on the 15th stating that GF has been selected as the technology provider and operator of two new 300mm wafer fabs in the Malta Park in New York. Japan will provide up to $21 billion in funding for projects under the U.S.-Japan trade agreement. In addition, the U.S. CHIPS project office will reallocate the US$955 million in funds previously obtained by GF for R&D and capital expenditures starting in 2027, and the U.S. Department of Commerce will obtain approximately 4% of GF’s equity.
