[China Electricity Council: By the end of 2026, the country's installed power generation capacity will reach about 4.3 billion kilowatts] On October 29, the China Electricity Council released the "National Electricity Supply and Demand Situation Analysis and Forecast Report for the Third Quarter of 2026". The "Report" shows that in the first three quarters, the country's total electricity consumption was 8.07 trillion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%. The country's newly installed power generation capacity was 250 million kilowatts, of which wind power and solar power generation combined added 170 million kilowatts, accounting for 67.8% of the total newly installed power generation capacity. The "Report" predicts that the growth rate of national electricity consumption in the fourth quarter will rebound significantly from that in the third quarter. The electricity consumption of the whole society will be about 10.8 trillion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 4%-4.5%. During the peak winter period, the national power supply and demand situation is expected to be generally balanced. If extreme conditions such as widespread cold wave weather and tight primary energy supply occur, local power supply and demand may be tight during local peak hours. It is estimated that the newly installed power generation capacity in 2026 is expected to exceed 350 million kilowatts. By the end of 2026, the national power generation installed capacity will reach about 4.3 billion kilowatts, of which non-fossil energy power generation installed capacity will be about 2.7 billion kilowatts, accounting for about 63% of the total installed capacity; wind power and solar power generation installed capacity will account for half of the total power generation installed capacity; coal power installed capacity will account for about 31% of the total installed capacity.
