[Agency: Latin American smartphone market fell 12% in Q2 2026] September 2, Omdia’s latest data showed that in the second quarter of 2026, the Latin American smartphone market fell 12% year-on-year, with shipments falling to 30.3 million units. The rising costs of DRAM and NAND are gradually transmitted to retail prices, with the most obvious impact on the demand for entry-level devices. Manufacturers and distributors had previously partially offset the impact of rising costs in the first quarter through advance stocking and inventory buffering. However, entering the second quarter, these buffering effects have weakened, and demand at the low end of the market has faced greater pressure, while the performance of the mid-range, high-end and high-end flagship markets has been relatively more resilient.
