[IDC predicts Apple’s foldable screen iPhone shipments will exceed 10 million units in its first year] On August 27, research firm IDC predicted that Apple’s much-anticipated foldable screen iPhone will help the foldable screen smartphone market escape from decline and achieve shipments of more than 10 million units in its first year on the market. This high-end phone, expected to be released in September, will be Apple’s first foldable screen device. IDC predicts that the price of this model will be high, but it will still attract a group of consumers who are willing to pay. Nabila Popal, senior research director at IDC, expects Apple to inject new growth momentum into this market and help foldable screen phones avoid double-digit percentage declines this year. IDC predicts that shipments in this category will grow by 12.6% this year, and the growth will accelerate to 18% next year. Apple will eventually account for 40% of global folding screen mobile phone shipments in 2027. At the same time, IDC currently predicts that the global smartphone market will decline by a record 16.7% this year, further deteriorating from previous forecasts. Rising prices for memory chips and other components are limiting production and pushing up phone prices.
