[France will deploy 70,000 police and gendarmes to respond to demonstrations] On November 5, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced that 70,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed during the nationwide demonstrations on November 5. The security configuration will be exactly the same as on October 31. Nunez said that demonstration routes approved by provincial governments will be as safe as possible and try to avoid the "most sensitive locations," including the core urban areas of some cities. He explained that in Paris, the demonstration route declared by the Trade Union Federation was close to the seat of the authority and posed a security risk. The government considered the route "inappropriate" and therefore decided to ban it. Large-scale demonstrations have occurred in France recently, with violent clashes and the destruction of shops in some areas. Some trade unions and student organizations have said they will hold nationwide protests on November 5. (CCTV News)
