Abstract:
"Age of Empires IV: Raiders of the North" will be released on October 30, landing on PC, Xbox and PS5 platforms, adding Vikings, Scots, four new Crucible Arena missions, cooperative mode and two new biomes.
The expansion pack "Northern Raiders" for "Age of Empires 4: Anniversary Edition" will be released at the end of this month (10.30). The expansion pack was officially announced at the Xbox Game Showcase in June this year. It will be available on the PC platform (Steam and Microsoft Store), Xbox Series
Vikings and Scots join the lineup
"Age of Empires 4: Northern Raiders" adds two new civilizations, each with new buildings, specializations, music and voice acting. Viking civilization centered around raiding, fast melee infantry, and early naval prowess, with an economy centered around the communal longhouse. As civilization evolved, they transformed from pagan raiders into medieval kingdoms with knights and trained militias, and heroic legends gave them lasting power.
The Scots play a gritty, defensive civilization. Their food economy relied on Highland cattle grazing on berry bushes near the towers, and on fish ponds. The Rally Hall allows players to distribute their troops according to strength in the highlands and lowlands. Scots infantry could see through the invisible forest, while pikemen, pikemen and Lochaber axemen could form a phalanx to hold off cavalry charges.
"The Crucible" adds new tasks and biomes, and the content is richer
The "Crucible Arena" mode was originally launched with the "Eastern Dynasty" expansion pack. Players need to defend a wonder and resist waves of enemies. "Age of Empires 4: Northern Raiders" adds four new missions on this basis, including the civil war between sea raiders and Scottish clans. The mode now supports single-player and two-player co-op, and adds new objectives, favors, specialties, mutation factors, and civilization-specific talent routes. Two new terrains - Scottish Moor and Tundra Summer - also change the look of the battlefield.
Game Pass
The Microsoft store page shows that "Age of Empires 4: Northern Raiders" is a paid add-on content, and does not mention whether it is included in Game Pass. The Xbox page only states that the console version of online multiplayer requires Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate membership. The Anniversary Edition is available now on all supported platforms.
