Abstract:
Apple’s first foldable screen phone, iPhone Duo, was officially launched globally on October 23. As has been Apple's practice for many years, the company's CEO will personally appear in a store to kick off the launch of new products. The person in charge of this traditional ceremony this year is no longer Tim Cook, but John Turners, who just took over as Apple CEO in September this year.

On the day of the launch, a large number of consumers gathered outside Apple retail stores around the world, waiting to buy this much-anticipated folding screen device. At 9 a.m. local time, John Turners appeared at the Apple Domain Northside retail store in Austin, Texas, and personally opened the door to welcome the first customers. The store first opened in November 2017 and is one of the important Apple retail outlets in the Austin area.
Joining Turners at the event was Deirdre O'Brien, Apple's senior vice president of retail operations. As the new head of Apple, Turners officially completed one of his first important public appearances with this new product launch, and continued the tradition of Apple executives interacting directly with consumers on new product launch days.
It is noteworthy that Apple CEO usually chooses New York’s Fifth Avenue flagship store to host the opening ceremony. This year, however, that arrangement changed. The opening of the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in New York will be led by Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, and Vanessa Trigub, Apple’s vice president of stores and retail operations.
Apple launched iPhone Duo pre-orders on October 16. After a week of waiting, this product, which is regarded as Apple’s official entry into the folding screen mobile phone market, has finally begun to be delivered to users and will be sold simultaneously in Apple retail stores around the world.
With the official launch of iPhone Duo, Apple has taken a new product form layout in the smartphone market. This device is not only Apple's first foldable screen phone, but also marks the company's official entry into the folding screen track that has long been competed by manufacturers such as Samsung and Google. On that day, Apple stores in many places around the world welcomed a large number of consumers to experience and purchase new products, and iPhone Duo officially began to enter the hands of the first batch of users.
