Abstract:
In early testing of the new Xbox PC app, codenamed Garrison, a large game library loads significantly faster, and store entries and game entries are merged into the same interface. The foreign media tester has a game library of more than 1,400 games; he said that the current application has performance problems when loading large game libraries and the Xbox PC game store. The speed improvement of the new version is especially obvious when loading the game library.

The new interface also makes it easier for users to see if a game can be installed or can only be streamed through Xbox Cloud Gaming. Store entries and game entries are no longer divided into two pages, and switching between entries is smoother.

The application provides both mouse, keyboard and handle operation design. In the new Game Mode settings of Windows 11, users can set it as the default main interface and use a display ratio suitable for handle operation. Testers believe that the new version does not add many features at this stage, and the improvements are mainly focused on performance and ease of use.

Testers also pointed out that compared with Steam, the Xbox PC platform still has gaps in community tools, communication between developers and players, and review display; the new version of the store page has not yet been fully implemented, and the related experience cannot yet be determined. The Xbox Cloud Gaming interface codenamed Bastion and Garrison that Microsoft previously tested are two different changes. Testers speculate that the new version of the app may be available to Xbox Insiders on PC in the coming weeks, but there is currently no confirmed launch date.
