Abstract:

Microsoft has officially released the redesigned Xbox PC application and started pushing updates to Xbox Insider test users. This revision not only brings a new interface design, but also focuses on improving performance. According to data released by Microsoft, the launch speed of the new version of the application has been increased by up to 60%, aiming to provide Windows players with a smoother, simpler and unified Xbox experience.

Microsoft said that the new version of the Xbox PC application has been greatly optimized in terms of response speed. The overall application startup speed can be increased by up to 60%, the loading speed of core pages such as homepage, store and Game Pass can be increased by up to 50%, and the opening speed of internal windows of the application can be increased by up to 65%. Microsoft also emphasized that the above data comes from internal testing, and actual performance will vary depending on device configuration, network environment and usage.

In terms of functional design, the Xbox game library has been reorganized. The new version of the app adopts a simpler navigation structure, adds updated filters and more game category management options, allowing players to find the content they want to play faster. Friends and social functions have also been integrated into the main navigation bar. Users can check friends’ updates, initiate chats, or join game parties without frequently switching pages.

Search functionality has also been enhanced. The new version of search can simultaneously retrieve games, installed content, additional expansion packs, and user information on the Xbox network, helping players find what they need faster through a unified portal. At the same time, Microsoft also redesigned the game card, home page, settings interface, and animation effects to make the overall visual style more modern and easier to navigate.

Jason Beaumont, vice president of Xbox experience business, said that this update is an important step for Microsoft to create a "faster, simpler, and more unified" Xbox ecosystem. The company has received a large amount of user feedback and will continue to promote subsequent optimization work based on player opinions.

In addition to PC applications, Microsoft is also expanding the coverage of the new Xbox cloud gaming experience. The new version of the Web cloud gaming platform, which was previously only open to some Xbox Insiders for testing, will be gradually and automatically pushed to more players in the coming weeks. The new version of the web page adds a new "Game Library" tab, which integrates player-owned cloud games and Xbox Game Pass cloud game content, and supports browsing, sorting and filtering based on recent play, game type, input method and other conditions.

For large-screen devices, Microsoft has also optimized the desktop mode layout, allowing PCs and high-resolution monitors to make full use of screen space and display more content. At the same time, the new version of the experience adds dark mode, light mode and five high-contrast themes to provide more personalized choices for players with different visual needs.

In addition, Microsoft also plans to extend the same design language and navigation logic to Xbox cloud gaming applications on supported smart TVs and VR headset devices to achieve a more consistent experience across different platforms.

Currently, the new Xbox PC application has been opened to members of the Xbox Insider project for testing. Microsoft has not yet announced the official release time for all Windows users, but said it will continue to improve the product experience based on test feedback in the future.
