Microsoft launches smallest Xbox Nano controller ever, priced at $49.99

📅 2026-10-15

Abstract:

Microsoft released the Xbox Nano Controller, positioning it as an entry-level wireless controller for players with small hands, young users, and mobile gaming scenarios. The controller is a little over 5 inches long and weighs about 3.5 ounces (about 99 grams), making it shorter and lighter than most modern smartphones. Although the body is small, it still retains the 18 game inputs of a standard Xbox controller.

The Xbox Nano has a built-in rechargeable battery and a new programmable Action button. Players can adjust the button mapping through the Xbox Accessories app and set the Action button to take screenshots, record game clips, or other commonly used shortcut operations. In terms of connectivity, the controller can be connected to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One via Xbox Wireless; Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers, tablets, iOS and Android devices, and compatible smart TVs are connected via Bluetooth. The handle uses USB-C charging, but the charging cable is not included in the package and needs to be prepared separately.

Microsoft said that this controller is suitable for pocketing or carrying around, and can also be used for local multiplayer games in the living room. The U.S. market will also launch a holiday bundle offer: new users who purchase certain Samsung TVs or Meta Quest headsets will receive an Xbox Nano controller and a two-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This offer is only available on select products and new subscribers in the United States.

The Xbox Nano is priced at US$49.99 and is currently open for pre-order. It is planned to be launched in more than 30 markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, Australia, and Hungary from November, with more regions to follow. Microsoft has not announced the specific battery life and charging time of the controller.
