In a recent exclusive interview with iPhone Duo, Apple Senior Vice President of Marketing Joswiak talked about the confidentiality of the folding phone project. He admitted that it was regrettable that the 1:1.4 screen ratio (√2:1≈1.414:1) was known to the outside world in advance.
Apple believes that some competitors may have already grasped some of the Duo's design directions in advance through the supply chain and leaks.
Joswiak said bluntly: "Leaks have let everyone know that Apple is developing folding screen products. Unfortunately, they even know the 1:1.4 screen ratio.
After that, many 'coincidences' appeared, and many people suddenly found this ratio very interesting."

In his view, hardware parameters such as appearance and size are relatively easier to flow out of the supply chain, while the underlying self-developed technology and special screen processing solutions are the real differentiated competitiveness of the product.
Even though the key appearance parameters of the iPhone Duo were exposed in advance, the core screen solution was not figured out in advance, which is equivalent to retaining an important trump card in the leakage storm.
Apple believes that the appearance of folding screen products is easy to be referenced by peers, and the nano-texture process solves the pain points of folding inner screen wrinkles and poor feel. This is the result of long-term research and development and is also the key to distinguishing iPhone Duo from other folding phones on the market.
To prevent further leaks, Apple also used an internal codename for the project that had nothing to do with the product itself.
The entire set of confidentiality strategies also allows Apple to bring enough impactful product highlights to the press conference even if some information is leaked in advance.
