Delayed for about 6 years, Tesla Roadster finally waits for new news

📅 2026-09-13

Abstract:

According to Reuters, Tesla’s official website recently launched a Roadster countdown page, pointing to October 1. Tesla also posted on the social platform

Tesla has not yet announced the specific content of the event, nor has it confirmed the mass production and delivery time of the Roadster. Previously, "The Information" reported in August that Tesla planned to display the redesigned Roadster as early as that month, but this time was ultimately not fulfilled.

The report also said that Tesla may demonstrate a limited edition Roadster at the event. This version may be equipped with a cold-gas thruster developed by Tesla and SpaceX, and the demonstration location is expected to be SpaceX's test base in McGregor, Texas, USA. However, Tesla has not confirmed the above arrangement.

On November 16, 2017, Tesla’s new Roadster was officially unveiled at a press conference in Hawthorne, California, USA. Tesla planned to start delivery in 2020, but the project has been postponed many times since then. Delivery of the electric sports car has been delayed by about six years based on the originally announced timeline, and nearly nine years since its debut.

When Tesla released the signal for the debut of Roadster, the company just opened Cybercab test rides in parts of Austin, Texas last week. Cybercab has a two-seater design without a steering wheel and pedals. Musk regards it as an important model for Tesla's development of self-driving business.
