Film distribution company A24 officially released the official trailer of the much-anticipated documentary "You Can See Everything" today. The film, co-directed by the well-known comedian and director Nathan Fielder and the documentary director Lance Oppenheim, focuses on the real life of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the Silicon Valley blood test scam company Theranos, on the eve of her sentence. The film is scheduled to hit North American theaters on October 16.
According to the official synopsis and information, the filming of the entire documentary began in 2023, just before Holmes was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for multiple fraud charges and was about to be imprisoned in 34 days. At the time, Holmes and her partner, Billy Evans, invited a skeptical camera crew into their home to film around the clock. What was originally intended to be an intimate portrait turned into an in-depth journey spanning three years, both before and after prison.
The released trailer presents an atmosphere of high tension and dramatic uncertainty. In the video, Holmes had a direct conversation with Field in front of the camera, strongly arguing that he had never tried to deceive anyone, and emphasized that he had always interacted with the outside world in the "most authentic human state." However, combined with the fact that he had previously committed a crime of defrauding investors of hundreds of millions of dollars through fictitious blood test technology, this direct gaze and defensive posture give the trailer a unique psychological thriller.
Previously, the film completed a secret premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, and triggered a strong response from the film and technology circles with its extremely special narrative perspective and controversial real records. Director Nathan Field admitted in the post-screening exchange that during the several-year shooting and tracking process, the film crew has always been unable to reach a unified interpretation of the interactive scenes captured in the house. This complexity and elusiveness has become the core attraction of the entire documentary.
