Abstract:

According to the latest estimates from Sensor Tower, after Rockstar aired the extended version of "Grand Theft Auto 6" (GTA 6) on Netflix, the number of pre-orders for the game has increased significantly. On August 27, the day the display content was broadcast, the pre-order volume of "GTA 6" increased by 436% compared with the previous day. This momentum continued until August 28, bringing the two-day cumulative increase to 572%, which was significantly higher than the daily average level in the previous 30 days.

From a platform performance perspective, PlayStation 5 contributed most of this growth. On August 27, pre-orders for the PS5 version increased by 606%; in comparison, pre-orders for the Xbox Series X|S version only increased by 127%. Since Sensor Tower began tracking "GTA 6" pre-orders in June this year, PS5 pre-orders have been ahead of Xbox. The tracking work began shortly after Rockstar officially opened the game for pre-order.

Sensor Tower currently estimates that the global cumulative pre-order volume of "GTA 6" is approximately 4.86 million, with a corresponding amount of nearly US$476 million. Among them, PlayStation platform buyers accounted for approximately 77% of the total.

Take-Two has not yet confirmed specific sales figures. However, company CEO Strauss Zelnick has previously said that demand for the $100 Ultimate Edition has exceeded that of the $80 Standard Edition. Since the release of the early trailer of "GTA 6", Rockstar has strictly controlled the pace of releasing actual gameplay content, so it is not surprising that this 26-minute showcase video has a significant boost to pre-order data.

Sensor Tower analysts also pointed out that the current purchase ratio between different versions may not always remain the same. As the game approaches release and a large number of ordinary consumers begin to pre-order, the proportion of the Ultimate Edition and the Standard Edition may change again, and the proportion of relevant platforms and versions may continue to be adjusted before the official launch.
