Abstract:
According to GamingBolt, Take-Two Interactive is continuing to investigate the "GTA6" content leak and said that the investigation is progressing "very quickly." The company has filed new documents with the court requesting information from Discord for the second time.
Take-Two had previously issued a subpoena to YouTube, requesting that the leaked video be removed. This new subpoena against Discord also includes an application for sealing, hoping that the court will not disclose the results of the investigation to prevent relevant personnel from learning that their identity information has been leaked.
This type of subpoena allows the rights holder to request information related to the infringement from a third party without filing a full lawsuit. Take-Two is trying to find the leaker through records saved on Discord. The company's previously submitted subpoena was not sealed, and the media later discovered three Discord servers that may be related to the leak.
Take-Two stated in the document that the company confirmed a new Discord user and obtained more identity information of another confirmed user. The company also has more information about the relevant community servers discovered previously, and hopes to further obtain more targeted information.
The company stated that the result of the subpoena relates to an ongoing investigation of copyright infringement and misappropriation of confidential information, which contains highly sensitive confidential content. If this information is made public, it may affect the investigation and allow the alleged infringers to know in advance the direction and progress of the investigation and the information Take-Two already has.
On the other hand, Take-Two has withdrawn its subpoena requesting Google to help identify three YouTube users. The three users are CyberLeeks, Surfer24k and CyberLeek_ar_io, and they are all alleged to be related to the leak. Judge John P. Cronan had not previously approved the application and asked the company to provide additional details about the three people’s specific connections to the case. Take-Two later said it no longer needed the specific information requested in the subpoena.
"GTA6" is currently being developed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and is scheduled to be released on November 19.
