Abstract:
According to Bloomberg reports on October 8 (Thursday), Meta has banned TikTok’s Chinese parent company ByteDance from advertising in the United States and other markets. This move marks a further escalation of the long-term competition between Meta and Byte. TikTok has become one of Meta's strongest competitors in the battle for user engagement, content creators and advertising revenue.

Since the 8th, Meta has begun to implement comprehensive restrictions, prohibiting Bytedance, a Chinese company that is still responsible for a key part of TikTok's US business, from placing advertising and paid marketing information on its platform. Meta said the ban will take effect in the United States, Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam, and will also apply to third-party advertisers that place ads in these countries and direct users to TikTok and other ByteDance products.
Meta spokesman Chris Sgro said in an emailed statement: "We have no obligation to serve ads for a competitor seeking to drive users away from our app. Refusing to provide promotional services to competitors is normal business practice in all industries. We will continue to compete on product quality and user experience."
