Abstract:
Meta CEO Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday a small handheld device called Meta Charm that can be used to operate the company's new Muse AI assistant, further expanding Meta's hardware layout from its current successful smart glasses.
This AI device is about the same size as an Apple AirPods charging box, equipped with an approximately 2-inch touch screen, and has built-in 5G connectivity. Meta said that Charm is expected to be available for shipment during the December holiday shopping season, but the price has not been announced.
“We have integrated the complete Muse experience into a device that can be hung on your keychain and talk to you at any time,” Zuckerberg said at Meta Connect, Meta’s annual device launch event in Menlo Park, California.
Meta on Wednesday also showed off the first virtual reality device that is so thin that it looks like ordinary glasses, as well as a pair of smart glasses without a camera, aiming to alleviate the growing privacy controversy caused by AI devices taking videos and photos without consent.
The company has also expanded its popular Muse AI assistant to all of its smart glasses product lines, adding a number of new features, including the ability to operate computers on its behalf, and integration with retailers and service platforms such as Walmart WMT.O , Best Buy BBY.N and GapGAP.N .
