Microsoft recently released the new "City Update 16: Italy" for "Microsoft Flight Simulator" and "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024". This update focuses on 9 cities in Italy, covering areas such as Sardinia and Sicily, further improving the visual restoration of the cities and surrounding environments in the game.
According to the development team, this update uses high-fidelity TIN (Triangular Irregular Network) surface textures, digital elevation models, digital terrain models, and the latest high-resolution aerial images to carefully recreate the relevant areas. Cities receiving upgrades include Bolzano, Cagliari, Genoa, Messina, Pisa, Reggio Calabria, Rimini, Trieste and Udine.
Microsoft stated that Italy occupies an important position in the development of art, culture, science and modern civilization, and has many representative urban landscapes in its territory. The area covered this time includes both coastal cities and inland metropolitan areas, as well as urban areas with magnificent natural landscapes as the background. It is designed to allow players to explore the local features with higher precision from the air.
"City Update 16: Italy" is now available as optional content for free download for players of "Microsoft Flight Simulator" and "Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024". PC players can obtain it through Steam and the Microsoft Store. The game is also available on the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 platforms, and is included in the Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass services. Xbox One, mobile and PC players who subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate can also experience new content with Xbox cloud gaming.
