Report says Apple raises full-year iPhone Duo shipment target by 44% to 14 million units

📅 2026-10-22

Abstract:

DigiTimes quoted supply chain sources as saying that Apple has notified Foxconn and component suppliers to increase the shipment target of its first foldable screen mobile phone iPhone Duo from 9.7 million units to 14 million units, an increase of approximately 44%. This goal covers the next 12 months, not just the rest of 2026; Apple has not publicly confirmed these order figures.

The report attributed the upward revision to strong booking demand. After iPhone Duo opened for pre-order on October 16, the delivery time on the official US website was postponed from the launch date to January 25, 2027, covering all colors and storage configurations, within about half an hour. Apple later described the demand as "phenomenal" and said it was working hard to get products into customers' hands as quickly as possible.

Increasing the target does not mean that production capacity has been synchronized. DigiTimes said that final shipments still depend on the progress of assembly; previous supply chain news has mentioned difficulties in assembly, screen and hinge manufacturing, and the first batch of supplies may be limited. Apple's first foldable screen phone will be available on October 23, with a starting price of $1,999 in the United States.

Previous reports claimed that Apple had increased iPhone Duo production orders by the end of 2026 by about 30%; this time the 44% statement covers a full 12 months, and the statistical periods are different and cannot be directly used as before and after data for the same round of order adjustments.
