Is iPhone Duo delivery delayed because production can't keep up? Foxconn CEO responds

📅 2026-10-30

Abstract:

According to Bloomberg, Foxconn, Apple’s main assembly partner, expects the company’s extensive global manufacturing footprint to help it meet the growing market demand for Apple’s foldable screen phones. Apple launched the $2,000 iPhone Duo earlier this month. The store's stock was quickly sold out, and the delivery time of some online orders was postponed until the end of January next year, becoming one of the longest delays in the delivery of new products in Apple's history.

Currently, iPhone Duo is mainly assembled by Foxconn in Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park. The company also produces parts for Apple at factories in other parts of China and overseas.

In an interview with Bloomberg TV, Foxconn’s rotating CEO Jiang Jiheng was asked whether it could meet the demand for iPhone Duo orders during the holiday shopping season. "We have more than 240 factories in 24 countries around the world and can supply products in a timely manner according to customer needs. Therefore, we can meet market demand, and I am very confident about this." Jiang Jiheng said that he also believes that AI will boost the demand for consumer electronics products.

Although Jiang Jiheng did not mention Apple or iPhone Duo by name, he plays a key role in coordinating the business between Foxconn and Apple. In October this year, when Apple COO Sabih Khan visited Foxconn Zhengzhou Science and Technology Park, Jiang Jiheng accompanied him to visit the iPhone Duo production line.

Foxconn Chairman Liu Yangwei has been cultivating potential successors through the rotating CEO system. Jiang Jiheng is regarded as a rising star within Foxconn and took up this new position in April this year.

Like many hardware companies in Taiwan, Foxconn’s business has also undergone transformation in the AI era. In the past, Apple's revenue contribution once exceeded 50% of Foxconn's total revenue, but this is no longer the case. In the second quarter of this year, Foxconn's cloud and network product business group contributed 51% of the company's total sales, which shows that the main driving force for Foxconn's growth has now shifted to AI-related hardware.

Foxconn plans to showcase its latest server products powered by Nvidia chips at its annual flagship event on Friday and is also expected to unveil a new lineup of electric vehicles.
