Abstract:
High-end graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD have interface burnout issues from time to time. NVIDIA launched the 12V-2X6 interface to solve the problems caused by the 12VHPWR interface, but the burnout problem still exists.

While interface issues have been around for years, another recently controversial issue is DLSS 5. . Recently, when an RTX 5090 was testing this new oversampling technology, its interface melted down due to its alarming power consumption.
A user named Erek recently tested the RTX 5090 running DLSS 5 in "NBA 2K27", which resulted in the interface being burned. The user noticed that the GPU's power consumption exceeded 600W, far exceeding the recommended power consumption.
For reference, MSI’s recommended power rating for this interface is 575W, and the graphics card power consumption measured by this user is about 613.5W, but this is the total power consumption of the entire motherboard, not just the power consumption of the RTX 5090 single card.
Nevertheless, the normal power consumption of this graphics card is approximately between 450W and 600W, and the overall value is outside this range, which reflects how much pressure DLSS 5 puts on the system at this stage.
DLSS 5, a new oversampling technology, has been controversial because it changes the overall style of the game and causes considerable performance losses. Now, this makes everything even more worrying, because it shows how demanding DLSS 5 is on your system.
