Samsung officially launches Galaxy S26 FE. This new machine, positioned as a "fan version", continues the product idea of the previous generation Galaxy S25 FE: the core hardware has not changed much, and the main improvements are focused on the new generation Exynos chip, front lens field of view, and AI software functions that have previously been unveiled in Samsung flagship machines and folding screen products.
The Galaxy S26 FE is equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED screen, a 4900mAh battery and a rear three-camera system. These key specifications are consistent with the Galaxy S25 FE released a year ago. In terms of performance, the new phone uses the Exynos 2500 processor; the front camera is still 12 million pixels, but the viewing angle is expanded from 80 degrees to 85 degrees, which can accommodate more people or environmental content.
In terms of appearance, the Galaxy S26 FE adopts a glossier body treatment and introduces a raised camera module design to be consistent with other models in the Galaxy S26 series. The color options include graphite gray, blueberry blue and pistachio green. Pistachio green is the same as the popular color on Galaxy Z Fold 8; blueberry blue can be regarded as a bright evolution of the previous generation’s dark blue color scheme.
However, limited hardware updates also come with price increases. The 8GB memory and 128GB storage version of the Galaxy S26 FE is priced at US$699.99 in the United States, which is US$50 more than the S25 FE; the 256GB version is priced at US$799.99. The report believes that tight memory supply and rising prices may be one of the background factors for this pricing adjustment.
From the perspective of product positioning, the gap between S26 FE and Galaxy S26 Plus is also more worthy of attention. The two phones are basically the same in size and weight. The screen size of the S26 FE has not been reduced, but the resolution is lower. The battery capacity and wired charging specifications are similar, and the wireless charging power is slightly lower at 15W. In comparison, the Galaxy S26 Plus is equipped with more memory and a more powerful chip, has better manufacturing quality, and has advantages in telephoto and ultra-wide-angle cameras.
The price gap weakens the cost-effectiveness of the FE model. The Galaxy S26 Plus was priced at $1,099.99 when it was released, but the 256GB version has now dropped to $899.99, which is only $100 more than the 256GB version of the S26 FE. For consumers who value performance, imaging and body quality, this price difference may make the standard flagship model more attractive.
Software functions are the main upgrade direction of Galaxy S26 FE this time. The new machine adds a "My FanCam" video editing function, which can automatically crop the video screen through AI and continuously track the designated subject. The audio eraser function has also been expanded. In addition to processing videos shot by users themselves, it can also be used for third-party content applications such as YouTube and Netflix to reduce background noise and highlight dialogue sounds.
A new "horizontal lock" video recording option is added to the camera app, focusing on more stable horizontal screen performance. Samsung has also upgraded its daily information summary function Now Brief, which allows users to create custom cards powered by AI to track weather, health data or preferred online content.
In addition, the Galaxy S26 FE is also equipped with the Now Nudge function that previously appeared on the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Z Fold 8. This feature will suggest things to write to the calendar or save places in Google Maps based on the content of the user's chat with the contact. However, this function requires users to use a Samsung keyboard; actual experience shows that its trigger frequency may not be stable.
Overall, the Galaxy S26 FE is more like an annual minor update model focusing on software experience enhancements. It retains most of the core hardware configuration of the previous generation and expands usage scenarios with features such as AI video editing, content noise reduction, and contextual suggestions. However, in the face of price increases and the actual price difference with the Galaxy S26 Plus has narrowed, its market competitiveness remains to be seen.
