Abstract:

According to Israeli news on October 4, local time, Hamam Hammami, the Omani co-pilot who attacked the captain of the Dubai Airlines passenger plane on September 30, testified during his trial in the United Arab Emirates that he originally planned to drive the passenger plane "directly into" the Ben-Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The news said that Hammami chose to attack the captain when the passenger plane was flying over Jordan. He originally planned to let the plane fly normally until it was about to arrive at Ben-Gurion Airport. When the Israeli military plane had no time to intercept, he drove the plane into the airport terminal. The injured captain opened the cockpit door at all costs, thwarting Hammami's attempt.

Israeli sources said Hammami told the interrogation that he had planned the attack before he was hired by flydubai. He researched which airlines flew to Tel Aviv and tried to apply, eventually being hired by flydubai.

On September 30, a safety incident occurred on flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Tel Aviv. According to sources from the United Arab Emirates, the co-pilot of the flight was suspected of stabbing the captain with a knife in the cockpit, causing the plane to suddenly descend. After other crew members and passengers subdued the attacker, the crew regained control of the aircraft. After the incident, the passenger plane was diverted and landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia.
