Earlier today, Rockstar Games announced a new collector's box for "Grand Theft Auto 6", priced at $400. The box does not include the game itself, but only includes a large number of Vice City-themed peripherals such as Oakley sunglasses, shot glasses, and vinyl statues. This high-priced peripheral gift box has aroused mixed reactions from players, with most GTA fans not recognizing the cartoon art style and design.
On Thursday, Rockstar officially opened the pre-sale of the "Grand Theft Auto 6: Joy State - Vice City Collection" gift box. The gift box will be released simultaneously with the game on November 19, and contains a variety of peripherals and gifts. Most of the designs are centered around a fictional TV show in the game, which players can watch in the game. The surrounding items include a pink crocodile statue, an enamel badge with the theme of the cartoon characters in the show, and a double-sided poster with a map of Vice City and characters from the show. This design idea is quite abnormal - after all, players have never seen this fictional show before. In addition, the price is too high, the characters are all cartoon images, and the game itself is not included. The combination of multiple factors caused the GTA community to quickly criticize this $400 gift box.
GTA modder Ash responded to Rockstar's official announcement on Twitter: "Hey bro, at least the base game is included for this price."
A Blue Sky platform user said: "The entire marketing of "GTA6" feels like it is tailor-made for those who bet everything on the Kalshi platform."
Another Twitter user replied: "$400 for an ugly statue, a few cheap hats and a shot glass, and no game. This is outrageous. Not buying it."

A user responded to this set of peripherals on Blue Sky: "Normally I never look forward to a sudden death in a game, but this time I really hope this thing completely overturns."
Some fans replied to a GTA content creator's post showing the collector's box: "This is the first time I have saved enough money to buy a Rockstar collector's edition. I have been looking forward to it before, but the result is so disappointing. It is not worth the price at all."
Another person posted: "To be honest, I quite like this set of peripherals, but I really hope there will be statues of Jason and Lucia. It would be nice to switch to a more affordable glasses brand and add a T-shirt. This is probably the biggest controversial point of this collection box besides the pricing. Many fans hope to launch statues of Jason and Lucia, or other peripherals directly related to "GTA6" and the series IP, rather than cartoon characters from a fictional show. I have to admit that I am a die-hard GTA fan, but I have no interest in spending $400 to get what is included in this box. Fans hope that Rockstar can lower the price or launch more special peripherals in the future. While I’m sure Rockstar will have a bunch of GTA6-themed merchandise for sale in the coming weeks, I don’t think the price of this collector’s box will drop anytime soon.
