Abstract:
The whistleblower KeplerL2 said that the PS6 chip has been designed and its performance is expected to be about twice that of the PS5. Sony has also planned a handheld model. These news have not yet been confirmed by Sony. What KeplerL2 calls "tape out" of a chip means that the design and specifications have been finalized and are now ready for manufacturing. According to this progress, PS6 may be launched in November 2027, but there is currently no official release date.

In terms of performance, the data given by KeplerL2 is 40 trillion floating point operations per second, which is lower than the 56 trillion floating point operations it claims the new Xbox has. He also said that PS6’s ray tracing performance is about 12 times that of PS5 and will use the more efficient RDNA 5 architecture.
Floating-point computing power cannot alone determine game performance. The actual running effect is also affected by factors such as hardware architecture. The report also speculates that PS6 may use an upgraded version of PSSR screen enlargement technology, but this has also not been confirmed.
As for the planned handheld model, it is still unclear what gaming experience it will provide and how it will work with the console. The price has also not been determined: the report gave an estimate of the material cost of about US$960, and speculated that if Sony is willing to bear a small loss in the early stage of launch, the price may be US$900. The above prices are not official information.
