Abstract:
Today (September 8) at a special direct meeting for the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo announced new materials for the live-action movie "The Legend of Zelda", confirming that the film will be released on April 30, 2027, and will be jointly produced and distributed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures.
The film is directed by Wes Ball (Wes Ball), whose masterpieces include the "Maze Runner" trilogy and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes: A New World." Benjamin Ainsworth plays Link and Bo Bragason plays Princess Zelda. Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad jointly serve as producers. Nintendo is deeply involved in content control to ensure that the adaptation is faithful to the original world view. Sony is responsible for global distribution.
The film has completed all live-action shooting in New Zealand in April 2026, and is currently entering post-production special effects production. The director said that the film will focus on showing the fantasy, nature and sense of exploration of Hyrule, and refer to the romantic atmosphere of Ghibli's works, rather than simply imitating the epic battle style of "Lord of the Rings".
