Abstract:
Today (September 8) at a special direct meeting for the 40th anniversary of "The Legend of Zelda", Nintendo announced a new real-machine demo of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remastered Edition", showing the game screen and gameplay. This game is exclusive to Switch 2 and will be officially released on November 5, 2026.
Real machine demonstration:
"The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remastered Edition" is a complete remake project, not a high-definition transplant. The art adopts a nostalgic and realistic fantasy style, abandoning the bright cartoon rendering of "Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom", and all characters and scenes are recreated. Classic characters and scenes such as Kokiri Forest and Thalia have been given a new look. The game aims to take into account the feelings of old players while also targeting a new generation of players.
A lot of modern improvements have been made to the gameplay. The original automatic jump has been changed to an independent manual jump button. Link can swim and dive freely in the water. The iconic locked combat system is retained, supporting dodge, side movement, and jumping attacks. The fairy Navi returns, with complete dubbing throughout the game, and will continue to give game tips. The slingshot supports gyroscopic aiming. The backpack UI has been upgraded to a sliding shortcut interface, making equipment switching smoother. The running target of the game is 1440P/60 frames, and the wilderness area can be seamlessly explored in large sections. All classic mazes have been remade in high definition. The Temple of Water has also been optimized and adjusted for the puzzle-solving logic that was criticized back then.
The core plot and settings of the original work, such as time travel, Ocarina of Time playing, and the Master Sword, are completely retained, and the soundtrack has all been re-recorded. Eiji Aonuma said at the face-to-face meeting that the team tried its best to preserve the atmosphere of the original version while transforming it, and some scenes still retained the loading transition. The game completely retains all the main content, while enriching some NPC dialogue texts to add more details to the old story.
