Abstract:
The launch of Steam Deck and the Proton compatibility layer created by Valve have become important turning points in the development of Linux games. This handheld console not only encourages publishers and developers to pay more attention to the Linux platform in the game development process, but also allows Linux players to run a large number of games that were inaccessible in the past.

According to SteamDB statistics, which tracks Valve's official data, there are currently 30,023 games on the Steam platform that have been officially marked as "verified" or "runnable" for Steam Deck or SteamOS. ProtonDB's statistics are slightly lower, with a total of 29,988 games meeting "verified" or "runnable" standards.
ProtonDB also tracks other relevant data, including the proportion of Steam Deck verified and playable games among currently popular games. Calculated by the number of simultaneous online players, 40% of the current top ten games on Steam have received a "verified" or "runnable" rating; among the top 100 games by the number of simultaneous online players, this proportion further rises to 46%.
According to the official statistics of SteamDB, the specific distribution of the number of related games is as follows: 21,078 games can be run on Steam Deck, 8,975 games have been verified by Steam Deck, 6,846 games are not supported by Steam Deck, and 4,494 games are not supported by Steam OS.
It should be noted that operating system compatibility and anti-cheat systems are not the only factors that determine Steam Deck compatibility. Problems such as game performance and user interface scaling may also cause a game to be judged as incompatible or unsupported on Steam Deck; however, these factors will not necessarily prevent the game from running on SteamOS or other Linux environments.
