Abstract:
Toyota Motor Co. is considering using hydrogen as an alternative to gasoline to power trucks transporting auto parts,
in response to a war in Iran that has pushed up gasoline prices and exacerbated supply constraints. Toyota's vice chairman said using hydrogen in suppliers' logistics networks is also an option. The plan is part of Toyota's commitment as a member of the Japan Hydrogen Association to use hydrogen for 1% of all logistics, fuel and raw material transportation.
JH2A于2020年12月由丰田等企业发起成立,截至2024年6月已拥有453家成员单位。 In June this year, JH2A officially signed the "1% Hydrogen Energy Procurement Declaration", clarifying that member companies will use hydrogen energy to replace 1% of traditional energy in the three major procurement categories of transportation, fuel and raw materials.
As of last month, 67 companies and institutions had participated in the initiative, covering banks, trading companies, insurance companies and local governments.
丰田在氢能物流领域已有实战经验。 In May this year, Toyota reached a strategic cooperation with Hyroad to deploy 40 hydrogen fuel cell Class 8 heavy trucks in the North American logistics network.
截至6月,这些氢能卡车已累计行驶30万公里,减少二氧化碳排放230吨。
In April this year, Toyota also formed a hydrogen heavy truck alliance with Daimler Trucks and Volvo Group to jointly promote the scale of fuel cell technology.
Data show that after the outbreak of the Iran war in March this year, the price of Brent crude oil soared to US$118.35 per barrel, US gasoline prices rose by 14% within a week, and diesel prices increased by more than 35% during the year. As of the end of August, international oil prices were still around US$89 per barrel, 23% higher than before the war.
