Abstract:
According to CNBC, US President Trump will award national medals to Musk, Huang Jen-Hsun, Su Zifeng and many other technology company executives at a science summit on Thursday (October 8) local time. According to the White House, Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and AMD CEO Lisa Su will be awarded the National Medal of Science; Dell founder Michael Dell and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will be awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.

The event is called the "New Golden Age of Science Summit" and was first reported by Fox News. White House Assistant Press Secretary Liz Houston said in an emailed statement that the Trump administration is grateful for the contributions of these leaders in science and technology, saying they are helping the United States continue to maintain its global leadership in innovation.
Just over a week before the summit, Trump held an artificial intelligence-themed lunch at the White House, and some executives to be awarded the award also participated in the event. Trump told reporters after the meeting that he had signed a "morally binding" document with technology industry leaders as calls to slow down the development of AI models grew.
CNBC pointed out that the proposed winners have all provided financial support to Trump or the Republican Party’s campaigns and related causes in some form. Some of the donations come from the executives themselves, and some of the financial support involves their companies.
According to reports, Musk is Trump’s largest financial supporter in the 2024 election cycle, investing more than $290 million. He subsequently led efforts to reduce federal personnel as a special government employee in the Trump administration.
Brin attended Trump's inauguration and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Republican National Committee in 2025. Jen-Hsun Huang donated to the Trump White House Ballroom Construction Fund, and Nvidia donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration ceremony.
Dell has long donated to Trump. He and his wife, Susan, pledged $6.25 billion to provide start-up capital for the "Trump Account" aimed at helping American children accumulate savings. The report also said that AMD also provided financial support to Trump-related funds.
In addition, CNBC quoted Trump's latest financial disclosure as saying that as recently as July this year, he still had transaction records of buying or selling shares of SpaceX, Tesla, Nvidia, Microsoft, AMD and Google's parent company Alphabet.
