Abstract:
According to GameSpot, Universal Studios has partnered with Epic Games to launch a "Fortnite"-themed scare zone in this year's Halloween Horror Nights. Both the Orlando and Hollywood campuses will set up related areas and adopt different design plans.
The Orlando park uses the eerie fields in the game as a stage to put visitors into a battle royale match. A device similar to the character selection interface is set up at the entrance, and Skeleton Soldier Jones is selected as the player's appearance. Visitors need to travel through this area to eventually reach the location of the Battle Bus.
The scare zone is decorated with scenes such as pumpkins, scarecrows, cornfields, barns and glowing jack-o-lanterns. There will also be a variety of "Fortnite" character appearances and NPCs appearing along the way, including Shadow from previous Halloween events and Husk from "Fortnite: Save the World." The relevant roles are played by actors and move freely within the venue.
Ramón Paradoa, director of creative development and performance at Universal Studios Orlando, said that the team hopes to enhance immersion in addition to restoring the visual elements of the game. A storm approaching effect has been added to the venue. LED lights, large purple floodlights and smoke equipment between trees are used to simulate the shrinking of the safe zone. On-site characters will also react with the arrival of the storm.
Another performance used projection mapping technology to show the process of the character Wrath building buildings and approaching enemies. There are also characters such as Skeleton Warrior and Hollowhead set up in the venue. Skeleterra will interact with tourists and perform some game actions for tourists to take photos or videos.
Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights is now open, with events at the Hollywood Park beginning on September 3. The events in both places will last until November 1st.
