Abstract:
VSMC opened its first 12-inch (300 mm) wafer fab in Tampines, Singapore. The factory has completed construction and entered the risk trial production stage, and is scheduled to start mass production in the first quarter of 2027.
VSMC is owned by Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) and NXP Semiconductors were established in September 2024. The factory held a groundbreaking ceremony in December of the same year. After 22 months of construction, the factory has completed the processing of the first batch of sample wafers, with a yield rate of over 99%. The company stated that the mass production plan is still advancing as planned.
The opening ceremony was attended by Singapore Minister of Trade and Industry Chen Shilong, Singapore Economic Development Board Chairman Feng Jiewen and Jurong Group CEO Grace Fu. TSMC representatives as well as customers, suppliers and industry organizations also participated in the event.
This wafer fab will support 130nm to 40nm processes for mixed-signal, power management, analog chip and interposer applications, targeting high-performance computing, mobile devices, automotive, industrial and consumer markets.
