Windows 11 version 26H2 integrating the October update is now available through Microsoft Media Creation Tool

📅 2026-10-20

Abstract:

Microsoft recently updated the media creation tool for Windows 11 systems. After this update, the media creation tool will use the Windows 11 26H2 version integrated with the October 2026 update by default. This version is currently the latest version. Users can use it after burning a USB flash drive normally and installing the computer. There is no need to download additional cumulative updates.

The media creation tool has been updated:

The Windows 11 26H2 version image file integrated with KB5127648 updates corresponds to Windows 11 Build 26300.9711. The Microsoft download page currently lists Windows 11 26H2 as the current version. The current version of the media creation tool is still 10.0.26100.7019, so users using previously downloaded media creation tools should automatically create the latest version of the image.

The KB5127648 update also applies to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. These versions share the same base and therefore the cumulative updates are also common. The corresponding system versions are 24H2 Build 26100.9711, 25H2 Build 26200.9711 and 26H2 Build 26300.9711.

Main uses of media creation tools:

Microsoft's media creation tool can download the latest version of the image file online and burn it to a USB flash drive so that users can boot the installation directly from the USB flash drive. However, Microsoft also supports downloading the latest ISO image file through the media creation tool, which makes it easier for users to use other tools for installation.

If you want to burn directly to a USB flash drive, please bring your own USB flash drive with a capacity of at least 8GB, and then back up all the USB flash drive data to other places. When actually downloading and burning, the entire USB flash drive will be formatted and all data will be lost. Finally, this tool currently only supports the creation of x64 images. If you want to create an Arm64 image, you need to go to Microsoft's official website to download the ISO and burn it through other tools.
