"Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remastered Edition" was accused by foreign players of being "similar to Genshin Impact"

📅 2026-09-15

Abstract:

Recently, Nintendo officially announced the actual demo of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remastered Edition". Shortly after the demonstration, some players on the Internet compared the castle town scene in the remake with Mondstadt in Genshin Impact, with an article saying that six years later, Nintendo actually copied Genshin Impact, even copying the Mondstadt aesthetics word for word. This view quickly aroused public opinion on the Internet.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time

The core of the controversy is actually clear at a glance. The original version of "Ocarina of Time" was released as early as 1998, more than 20 years earlier than "Genshin Impact", and the European-style buildings and market squares in the castle town are the common features of real ancient German towns. The remake adopts a more realistic European medieval style, while Mond in "Genshin Impact" is also based on traditional German architecture. The two works just share the same realistic reference system, so they were forcibly copied.
